Eric Gomez
Born in Fort Worth, Texas, the second youngest son of Lt. Col Rick Gomez and Mary Gomez, Eric has spent his entire adult life in Tulsa. Together with his wife Elle Jewell they have three children ranging from age 12 to 29 and are elated to be expecting their first grandchild early in 2020.
Eric works as a Realtor and General Contractor mainly working on historic home and building renovations. As a former elected official with the City of Tulsa, Eric has worked to implement best practices regarding mental health and homelessness policies at the municipal level.
At a very young age Eric learned how many mental health struggles can tragically change a family when his young cousin of his same age tragically died while he was patient/resident of The Psychiatric Institute of Fort Worth.
Eric has suffered with extreme anxiety and depression throughout his adult life. This combined with heavy alcohol abuse ultimately led to the divorce of his first wife in 2012. Eric has used cycling and fitness as a healthy outlet to help overcome many of these challenges.
Eric is honored to be a part of Team Suicide Prevention. Eric and the entire team look forward to documenting and highlighting this journey and sharing the stories of those whose lives have been tragically altered by suicide. In 2020 the team will participate in Iron Man Tulsa, and Race Across America RAAM, and will be Racing to Save Lives!
